Manoah resigns from Vihiga United, Mururi tipped to take over

National Super League champions, Vihiga United FC, have suffered a setback after their title winning coach, Edward Manoah, tendered his resignation.

Manoah announced his resignation in a letter dated December 11, 217 and addressed to Vihiga County’s Ministry of Youth and Sports.

He has coached the club since April 2014, the highlight of his career being early this month when he led the club to an NSL title thus securing a spot in the 2018 Kenyan Premier League

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Vihiga FC secretary general Wycliffe Luvavo said: “We met yesterday and accepted his resignation. We have invited applications from interested candidates,”Luvavo said.

In a separate interview, Manoah said: “I have tried to convince my mind to continue as the head coach but I have found no reason to be in charge of the team for the task ahead in 2018. Therefore, for meaningful preparation to be undertaken in good time, I opted to step down as the head coach. I feel I have made enough contribution, and to the best of my abilities,” Manoah said.

Luvavo at the same time revealed that the club has approached Kakamega Homeboyz head coach Mike Mururi to take up the job.

In the meantime, assistant coach Tom Tera will take charge on interim basis.
