Marauding Simbas out to devour Namibia

The marauding Kenya Simba XVs are roaring to prey on champions and favourites Namibia on Saturday when take on to the pitch for their second Confederation of Africa Rugby (CAR) Division 1A clash in Windhoek.

Jerome Paarwater’s boys who mauled the Sables of Zimbabwe 61-15 last weekend have been in Namibia since Sunday preparing for the team that stands between them and reclaiming the glory they last tasted in 2011.

It was Kenya XVs biggest away victory since August 2, 2003 when they annihilated Botswana 80-9 in Gaborone but Namibia, the back-to-back continental champions, are also coming to the clash on a high having pecked the Uganda Cranes 40-31 in Kampala last week.

“The match is a very big one for us. We have been working very hard to clean up our away games. Last year we lost all our away games so we are trying to improve on that and so far it’s working out,”

“We know Namibia is very strong – probably our strongest competition in Africa, but we are prepared and looking forward to the game on Saturday,” Namibia forwards Coach; Dominique Habimana told The Namibian newspaper ahead of the tie.

Simbas Team Manager, Wangila Simiyu, gave Paarwater’s team a clean bill of health.

“We have no injuries concerns. Simon Muniafu has fully recovered from the knock he sustained in the win over Zimbabwe and has been training with the team. The boys are fired up and focused on the Namibian job,” he was quoted in Kenya Rugby Union’s official website.

Kenya Harlequins’ Dennis Muhanji and Mwamba RFC forward, Dan Sikuta who scored braces apiece against the Sables and KCB’s Darwin Mukidza who put a Man-of-the-Match performance are the stars of the CAR Cup quest.

Zimbabwe will then host Uganda on July 23 before the final round of matches set for July 30 and August 6 where Kenya will entertain Uganda and Zimbabwe travel to Namibia.
