Maseno crash out of rugby school games

High school rugby giants Maseno School, popularly known for producing national rugby prodigy, Billy Odhiambo, were dumped out of ongoing schools ball games as arch rivals Kakamega High School and pool ‘A’ underdogs Moi Sirgoi High school progressed.

The 2014 East African Secondary School rugby 15s champions whipped Kangaru High School 21-3 but were downed 6-3 by Moi Sirgoi of Mau region as Kakamega tore apart Kangaru 32-0 to top the pool.

In Pool ‘B’ Bungoma High School booked a semi-final after overcoming Aberdare region rugby powerhouse and three-time national champions Mang’u High 8-3. Bungoma finished second in the pool with six points while Upper Hill topped the pool with nine points.

Kakamega will battle it out with neighbours Bungoma in the first semi while Upperhill has been drawn against Sirgoi.

Friends School Kamusinga hockey team suffered their first defeat of the tournament after losing 1-0 to bitter rivals Maseno School to finish second in pool ‘A’ behind Narok High School. The result could prove costly as the 11-time champions were drawn against East African Champions St. Anthony’s to set up a mouth-watering semi-final clash.

Upper Hill face a Narok side that has conceded the least goals among the semi-finalists in the other semis match.

In girls’ hockey, East African champions Sinyolo Girls take on Misikhu while Kerugoya Girls will square it out with Tigoi Girls.

In the Boys’ basketball, academic giants Alliance High School almost hit a century of points against Wajir High School, walloping the North Eastern side 93-15 and will face Kapenguria High School in Friday’s semi-finals. Upper Hill will play Aga Khan in the other semis match.
