Masita Masuta a pain too much to bear for Mwalala

Masita Masuta a pain too much to bear for Mwalala

Nzoia Sugar FC head coach Bernard Mwalala has accused forward Masita Masuta of absconding duty after it emerged that the striker has moved to Ulinzi Stars FC.

Mwalala maintained that his technical bench was not informed of the move and maintained that Masuta has an obligation to Nzoia Sugar since he still has a running contract with them adding that the club is still smarting from the loss of Lawrence Juma to Gor Mahia.

However, contacted, Ulinzi Stars club’s vice-chairman Major Joe Birgen skirted around the issue saying that the transfer window is still open and talks are ongoing. Ulinzi Stars had on Sunday announced that Masuta had joined their ranks.

But a bitter Mwalala would hear none of it. He said: “If indeed he (Masuta) has been sold then it’s a big blow to us because it’s not easy to get a good replacement in a short time.”

Mwalala further termed Masita’s loss as a sign of bad management, seemingly insinuating that the club’s management may have conducted the deal under the table, pointing to possible bad blood between the club’s management and the technical team.

“We had a meeting with the club management and urged them to involve us on possible transfers in order for us to get replacements,” Mwalala said, failing to clarify whether the miller intends to take any action against the player.

The forward joined the millers from Muhoroni Youth two years ago and has been an important cog in the Mwalala coached side.

His departure from the Bungoma-based club comes in the wake of the signing on of two attackers– Morven Otinya from Sofapaka and youngster Patrick Odhiambo of Bukembe High School.

The miller finished in the ninth position last season with 44 points and seeks to better their standing in the new campaign.
