Matano satisfied with Sofapaka draw

Tusker FC head coach Robert Matano has expressed his satisfaction despite his side being held to 1-1 draw by Sofapaka in a FKF-PL match held on Sunday.

The Brewers had the chance to move second on the log but the stalemate ensured they remained third on the standings with 11 points, four adrift of leaders KCB.

Matano said they did everything against a struggling Batoto ba Mungu but are nevertheless content with a point.

“Sofapaka is not a weak team because it has lost matches.  You should understand that losing is part of the game.  Having lost three matches, you expected them to come with power and look for a win.  However, I can’t say they were stronger than us because my boys showcased some beautiful football and although we were not looking for a draw, I think we can take it,” said Matano.

The experienced tactician further claimed that the result is behind them and are now planning for their upcoming match as they seek to return to winning ways.

“Nothing has stopped us yet, we wanted to win but we got a draw, they also wanted to win but they did not win as well. My squad is ready to tackle any team. We can’t dwell on a past match but rather we are now focusing on the next assignment,” said the tough talking trainer.

On the other hand, the recently appointed Sofapaka head coach Ken Odhiambo drew positives from the match with his team having registered only a win in its five fixtures of the top-flight league.

“We are heading in the right direction, the team has been losing and getting a point today was a better option. The boys played well and we are hopeful that we will bag more points in our upcoming matches,” said Odhiambo.

Tusker will face Bandari FC in their next fixture on January 16th with Sofapaka tackling Nairobi City Stars a day later.
