Matasi confirms Tusker, Bandari interests

Harambee stars goalkeeper Patrick Matasi says he has received offers from both Kenyan Premier League leaders Tusker Fc and Bandari FC, but nothing concrete has been reached.

Matasi announced his exit from Ethiopian giants St. Georges last week, and is currently is currently training with Kakamega Homeboyz as he assesses his options.

“It’s true I have been contacted by Tusker FC head coach Robert Matano. He wants me to play for them but nothing concrete has been reached about the deal. Bandari too have called me but we haven’t held any serious talks,” said Matasi.

Matasi who has recovered from injuries sustained in a road accident  last month, says he will not accept offers from abroad as he wants to be close to his young family.

“I am currently in Kakamega, my family is recovering well after the accident. It’s true there are clubs abroad that have shown interest but I may not consider them because I want to be close to my young family,” he revealed.

FKF-PL side Kakamega Hombeboyz have accorded Matasi an opportunity to train with them for fitness purposes.

“I’m committed to see them (family) recover fully and so I really want to be with them. When I find time I train with Kakamega Homeboyz to keep fit.”

Matasi was the key figure between the posts in Harambee Stars 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers and the tournament proper in Egypt, where among other highlights he stopped Liverpool’s star Sadio Mane’s penalty.

Tusker, Kenya’s representatives in the CAF Champions League next season are beefing up their squad and Matasi would be a second addition after Charles Momanyi who joined them from Gor Mahia last week.

The brewers are also reported to be wooing AFC Leopards striker Elvis Rupia, second best Premier League scorer.
