Mathare go top, Murunga double denies Sharks

Mathare United made it two wins in two as they fought back from a goal down to defeat Nzoia United 2-1 at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

George Mutimba had given the hosts a 31st minute lead before Chrispin Oduor equalized in the 78th and Francis Omondi capped the turnaround from the spot five minutes later.

The win took them top of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) log and meant they are one of only three teams with perfect starts to the 2018 season.

Earlier in the same venue, goals from Ebrimah Sanneh and Eric Kapaito had not been enough to lift Kariobangi Sharks over Vihiga United as Andrew Murunga’s helped the visitors rescue their first point of the season.

At the Awendo Green Stadium, Kevin Omondi’s solo strike in the 19th minute was all Sony Sugar needed to see off Ulinzi Stars while Tusker FC and Posta Rangers settled for a goalless draw.
