Mbeere Sub County League to kick off this month

In efforts to strengthen football at the grassroots, Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Lower Eastern branch has crafted an eight-team league that is set to kick off.

Mbeere Sub County chairman Joshua Mboya says the league is in line with the introduction of Sub County leagues by FKF with matches set to kick off later in the month.

“Starting this league will help rehabilitate the youth who are using drugs and those who are unemployed by engaging them in more constructive activities,” said Mboya.

“Mbeere Sub-County has eight wards including: Ishiara, Muminji, Kiambere, Mavuria, Mbeti, Makima, Karaba and Nthawa. Every Ward will have a team to represent them in the league,” said Mboya.

The league will be open to all age groups as this will help nurture talent and creating inclusive teams that will play at the provincial and regional tournaments.

Players, coaches and referees will undergo a league course before the fixtures are released on May 20th. Matches will be played on home and away grounds and winners determined on merit basis.

“Since the league will be the first ever in this area, no teams will be relegated from the league until structures are formed to strengthen it. The top two teams will be promoted to Lower Eastern Provincial League,” added Mboya.
