Mboya extends Tusker stay as free-spending Wazito capture Odhiambo

Custodian Robert Mboya has extended his contract at Tusker by penning a one-and-a-half-year deal.

Mboya played a key part in the Brewers title charge last term keeping eight clean sheets as the team conceded 21 goals.

He will be heavily relied upon in the new season as the Brewers attempt to snatch the league title from holders Gor Mahia.

Meanwhile former Western Stima goalkeeper Steven Odhiambo says the good structure and proper management of Wazito prompted his move to the club.

Speaking to the club website after joining the outfit, the former St. Peters Muslim Boys Secondary School goalkeeper  who will compete for a starting place with Peter Odhiambo and Bixente Otieno says it’s a dream come true for him.

“I am delighted to join Wazito FC because it is a well-organized team with good management. I think it is every player’s dream to play for Wazito. To the fans I want to tell them that we will give our best to ensure that the team performs better than it did last season,” he said.

Confirming Odhiambo’s departure, Western Stima chairman Laban Jobita said he cannot stand in any player’s way if they find a better deal and insisted his main target is to find a sponsor for the team ahead of the new season.

“I wish him all the best, we will always find a replacement of the any player who leaves the club. We also lost Omalla to Gor and we are planning to have a meeting with the technical bench to find a way forward ahead of the new season,” said the club chairman.

Meanwhile Wazito goalkeeping coach Elias Otieno is pleased with the addition.

“Steve is a good goalkeeper. He is very hardworking and has the eagerness to learn and improve as a player, above all he has a very positive attitude. He is a keeper capable of being our first choice and I know that he will compete well with our two other custodians,” he stated
