Mbungo watches on from the terrace as Bandari switch off Stima
Rwandan coach Andre Casa Mbungo was on the terrace ahead of his unveiling tomorrow as Bandari head coach even as the home side switched off Western Stima 2-0 in an FKF-PL match at the Mbaraki Sports Club Sunday afternoon.
In Nairobi, at the Kasarani Stadium, Tusker and Sofapaka shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw in a highlight match of the weekend as Anthony Kimani brace inspired Wazito to a 2-1 win over Nairobi City Stars at Utalii grounds.
Mbungo, alongside former Gor Mahia assistant coach Patrick Odhiambo are expected to take the mantle at Bandari on Monday, replacing Ken Odhiambo who left the Dockers for Sofapaka.
And he got a glimpse of what to expect from the team as they put their best foot forward to outfox the visitors, Yema Mwana and Benjamin Mosha each scoring to seal the win.
Earlier on Darius Msagha, Yema Mwana and William Wadri all missed open chances in the 14th and 19th minutes of the game, making the home side wait until stoppage time of first half to open their account.
Stima’s goalkeeper Samuel Odhiambo punched Darius Msagha cross only for the well-positioned Mwana to tap into an empty net.
Stima’s only chance of the half came from Patrick Otieno’s long range shot which went inches wide.
The home side returned from the tunnel with the same power with the super substitute Benjamin Mosha adding a second goal for Bandari in the 52nd minute as they recorded their second win of the season.
At Kasarani Ellie Esieche’s sixth minute goal gave Tusker the lead before Luke Namanda equalised for Sofapaka in the 20th minute as Bidco United got their first league win of the term beating Vihiga United 1-0.
