Miathene retain Meru Games rugby 15s title

Miathene Boys High School, nicknamed ‘Matosa’, have retained their last year’s Meru County School Games rugby 15s title after seeing off Ontulili Boys 53-05 in the semis and humbling Abothuguchi 29-05 in the finals.

Two tries and two conversions from Dennis Mwirigi, Brian Murithi two tries and one try from Kadir Gesare confirmed 29-05 against Abothuguchi to defend and lift the title.

Miathene rugby 15s head coach Patrick Mwika is happy for his charges to retain the title. Mwika says the achievement is as a result of hard work, focus and fine executions in his team. He now looks pasts regional and into nationals.

“We played well , the game was awesome as we were at high pace from the first minute to the last minute. The players took their chances very well thus we have retained the title, ” Mwika says.

Miathene won without losing a single match. Their title came through after humbling Abothuguchi 17-05, Kibirichia 00-33, Meru School 00-41 and Njia Boys 00-39.
