Mighty Gor conquer Lobi Stars of Nigeria in CAF clash at Kasarani

Gor Mahia FC pulled off a superb 3-1 victory over Lobi Stars as they took a huge step towards the plum CAF Champions League group stage round where Ksh 54 million lie in wait for the aggregate winner.

In truth, Gor should have made their job for the leg a lot easier had Jacques Tuyisenge rolled the ball into an empty net after beating goalkeeper Ospino Egbe with a clever dink.

By then, Gor were already 3-1 with Francis Mustafa also spurning an effort from close range after Tuyisenge’s shocking miss.

It was the Rwandese, however, that got them off the mark with a ferocious finish inside the opening five minutes as Gor benefited from a positive start.

Gor nearly doubled their lead two minutes later when Francis Kahata picked out Onyango on the left wing but the winger failed to beat the goalkeeper with an effort at the near post.

There was no stopping the former Ulinzi Stars player for the second time as he sunk home an acrobatic finish after some neat work from Kahata again.

The visitors were looking out of sorts and were forced an early substitution with Austin Ogunye coming in for Zango Umar in a tactical change.

It paid almost instantly with Kadri glancing home a header from a corner kick.

There was still time for Onyango to double his money and restore Gor’s two-goal cushion when he stormed through the visiting defence before leaving Egbe for dead with a dummy, rolling home to make it 3-1.

Gor had the chance to kill off the match late on when a long ball fell to Tuyisenge who did well to lift it over the onrushing Egbe but failed to complete the simplest task of tucking it to an empty net.
