Misfiring Bandari face All Stars away test

Bandari FC head coach Bernard Mwalala will hope his attacking line can produce a positive response on Saturday during their Kenyan Premier League (KPL) away trip to Kisumu All Stars.

Mwalala had blasted his attacking players and declared he ‘must’ find a solution for his misfiring frontline in a withering assessment of their 1-0 KPL defeat to Kakamega Homeboyz on Wednesday.

That result only highlighted what has been a shocking start to the campaign for Bandari, who have were back to back runners-up in the two previous seasons but now sit 12th on the standings, just four points off the relegation zone.

Mwalala is currently without the effervescent winger Hassan Abdallah who is on international duty but suggested he will have to shop for a ‘top striker who can finish’ chances over the January transfer window.

“I cannot go the pitch and score goals. We need to sort this problem because it has been there for quite some time now. We create chances each and every game but my strikers cannot even score tap-ins.

“A club like Bandari need that one player who can make a difference but unfortunately we don’t have that Messi, that Ronaldo type players in our team,” he told Citizen Digital.

It is rumoured that Mwalala is a target for Tazanian giants Yanga SC where he enjoyed stints as a player, and while the tactician himself and the club’s management have dismissed those reports it is possible they have unsettled his camp.

“We go to Kisumu for our last match this year but we hope to fix this problem when we come back again next year.” Mwalala added.

Kisumu All stars trip will come too soon for winger Hassan who is still representing the country at the CECAFA Senior Challenge in Uganda.

Mwalala has been forced to bring in Patrick Mughendi to bolster his attacking options and may be reliable when they face the relegation threatened Kisumu All Stars on Saturday .
