Mohamed Agege chuffed at Stars call-up

Mohammed Katana ”Messi Agege” has termed his debut call up to the Kenyan national football team Harambee Stars as a dream come true.

Agege who completed his transfer to Isloch FC in Belarusian Premier League last week confirmed that he has received a call up after a letter from Football Kenya Federation was submitted to his new team.

“I received the call up earlier this week and it is very special for me to don my country’s jersey and represent it,”he expressed. He added, “I can’t wait to join the camp as my dream is coming true.”

The left-footed attacker played once for the Under-20 national team and turning out for the senior will be a plus in his career.

The Aspire Academy graduate has started training with his new club FC Isloch and may play his first game before returning back to the country.

“I have been training with the team and adapting to their playing style hoping to make it in the matchday squad during the weekend,”he said.

Harambee Stars are scheduled to tackle Libya and Zambia on 9th and 12th October respectively in Nairobi in friendly matches.

They are preparing for a two leg AFCON qualifiers against Comoros to be played in November.

Stars will heavily depend on their foreign players as the local ones have been out of the pitch since Kenya reported her first Covid-19 case of Covid-19 in March this year.

National team coach Francis Kimanzi has also said he is closely monitoring the progress of Kenyan born left-back Clarke Oduor who plays for English Championship side Barnsley after their third round Carabao Cup match against Chelsea yesterday.
