Football Kenya Federation (FKF) officials in Mombasa have accused the national organisation’s president Nick Mwendwa for meddling in the region’s election that saw Lilian Kazungu elected chairperson in a controversial manner.

Alamin Ahmed saw his victory stripped away and handed to Kazungu after rejected votes were recalled in the favour of the former Harambee Starlets midfielder who ran under Mwendwa’s ‘Team Blue’ umbrella.

“Nick should just concentrate with his national politics and leave alone Mombasa where clubs have voted for their choice,” lamented Mohammed.

Ahmed’s running mate Abdulhalim Mohammed has vowed they will not surrender office as they had already been awarded certificates for their win and threatened to disrupt football activities in Mombasa if they are not allowed to work.

“It will be either us or no football in Mombasa at all because we will not allow this game for another term which kills many dreams here,” he said.

His sentiments come after Mombasa clubs, players and coaches held a procession yesterday in the city of Mombasa to condemn the same.

Alamin Ahmed won the September election held at Shanzu Teachers College in Mombasa by 17 votes to 16 of his close competitor Kazungu who was then declared winner by the appeal committee.

Mwendwa who will be defending his seat in the national elections next weekend has not commented on the county elections so far.
