Moraa, Momanyi to battle for honours in Kisii AK meet

The fourth and final series of Athletics Kenya (AK) Cross Country is heading to Kisii County on Saturday.

World U-18 400m silver medalist Mary Moraa and Jared Momanyi , a member of Kenya team that won gold medal in 4x400m relay at the 2018 African Championships in Athletics held in Asaba, Nigeria are among the top local names set to grace in the meet .

Athletes from the Ngong Refugee Camp have already arrived in Kisii ahead of the rac while those from the disciplined forces including a team from Kenya Police are also expected.

The events to be competed in include the 6km junior women race, 8km junior men, 10km for senior men and women, as well as the mixed relays.

According to AK Nyanza South chairman Peter Angwenyi, all is set for the event that is set to attract more than 500 athletes from Kisii and other regions.

“Everything is ready for the Cross Country. We are expecting more than 500 athletes to turn up for the event considering this will be the last AK meet in this calendar year,” Angwenyi told Citizen Digital.

Angwenyi has at the same time urged athletics faithful to turn up in large numbers in order to witness the event that is set to go down in a challenging course.
