Mosoti calm as he waits for Simba SC Ksh1.38m windfall

Former SportPesa Premier League champions ace Donald Mosoti is happy to continue plying his trade at second-tier Nakumatt FC as he waits to be paid Ksh1.386m by Tanzanian giants Simba Sports Club in compensation for pre-maturely terminating his contract with them.

Mosoti signed with the National Super League side after he was released by Simba one year and three months before his deal was to elapse and he took the Dar-es-Salaam based titans to world body FIFA to seek redress.

FIFA ruled in his favour and ruled that Simba popularly known as Wekundu wa Msimbazi to pay him USD13800 (Ksh1,386,782.70) and a further USD2000 (Ksh200,983.00) for delaying payment to the defender.

“They sacked me because they needed to add the number of professional footballers from five to seven. So after the management talked to the professional players, they refused to offer them a deal to play for Simba who were confident they will sign. So the only option was to drop other two players or to loan them to other local Tanzanian clubs.

“I was one of those put up to be loaned but refused. I told them to pay me the remaining salary so that I go,” Mosoti explained.

“For now I have signed two year contract with Nakumatt so going back to them is not possible, even if they will pay the remaining amount of money, I’m happy in Nakumatt, they pay well and it comes on time, yesterday (Sunday) we won our NSL clash by beating KCB 1-0,” the defender added.

Tanzanian Vodacom Premier League giants, Simba SC risk expulsion from the top-flight if they refuse to pay Mosoti Ksh1.5m as directed by FIFA.

Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) confirmed on Monday that they will fully implement FIFA’s directive to relegate the Dar-es-Salaam based titans if they fail to comply with the ruling of the world body for terminating Mosoti’s contract prematurely.

“Within a period of one month starting from May 6th 2015, they need to pay Ksh1.5m to Mosoti and there are also supposed to pay another Ksh 200,983.00 (USD2000) to Fifa for delaying to comply,” TFF Secretary General, Celestine Mwesiga announced.

“TFF will implement fully with the FIFA’s recommendations to relegate Simba sports club from Tanzania main league if they fail to comply with the world football governing body’s demands to pay Kenya footballer, Donald Mosoti, his compensation following their pre-mature contract termination,” the official added.

Simba terminated Musoti’s contract with one year and three months to go forcing the Kenyan footballer to write to FIFA which has now asked the club to pay.

“We have already consulted the club to ensure they comply failure to that we will see what to do but the penalty was fair, according to the FIFA regulations,” Mwesiga declared.

In letter to Simba from Fifa, which the Tanzania football federation has been asked to enforce, the club is supposed to pay Mosoti USD 13 800 plus a five percent gratuity per annum from the 16th September 2014 when the contract was terminated.
