Muhiddin: We’ll make life difficult for Ulinzi Stars

Bandari FC will be hoping for a positive result to keep pace with league leaders Mathare United and AFC Leopards when they host 2010 Kenyan Premier League champions Ulinzi Stars at Mbaraki Stadium, Mombasa.

Five rounds into the 2016 Sportpesa Premier League campaign, only one point separates the two and even though the clash appears evenly matched on paper, The GOtv shield champions have failed to beat Ulinzi in the last five matches.

Four draws and one loss for Bandari in their last five head to head clashes mean the pressure will be on Twahir Muhiddin’s side to perform and the tactician has revealed they are desperate to break that duck.

“The players look sharper after the international break and that makes me confident that we can achieve something. Together with Gor Mahia our season started much earlier because of the Super Cup so the two-week break has been very beneficial for us. The players look re-energized and ready to continue with the campaign; their physical conditions are impressive,” the Bandari tactician told Citizen Digital.

He lauded his opponent’s good run of form saying he admires how they ‘gel’ as a team but warned that his side are an equally tightly knit squad that play as a team.

“It’s not going to be a joy ride for them. We’ll press right from kick-off to the last whistle and hopefully we can make life difficult for them,” he added.

Muhiddin said he was pleased that almost all his players are fit and available for selection with only midfielder David Gateri who has been ruled out for a month the injury concern.

Ulinzi Coach Robert Matano was adamant to speak much about the clash although he reiterated the Soldiers will be playing to win.

‘’I don’t want to speak much about the game tomorrow. Everyone knows this is a tough match for both teams. We are in the league to play these tough games and promise to give our best during the match, ‘’ said the league-winning coach.

Any slips from Francis Kimanzi’s Slum Boys and Ivan Minnaert’s Ingwe could mean either side can climb to top of the SPL standings with a win.
