Muindi, Meringor win Madoka Half titles

Daniel Muindi and Delvine Relin Meringor are the are the new champions of the 13th edition of Safaricom-Madoka Half Marathon held on Mashujaa Day at Ngerenyi, Taita Taveta County.

Muindi registered 1:06.04 to win the race while Stephen Mwendwa and George Njoroge settled on the second and third position after cloking 1:06.56 and 1:06:67 respectively in 21Km race.

“I thank God for the win, this was my third time to participate and I can surely say the harsh whether hindered me. For now I am focusing on other races.” Said Muindi in an interview with Citizen Digital.

In 21km women category, Meringor clocked 1.16.10 to finish first while Lydiah Njeri and Esther Chesang settled for the second and third position consecutively with 1.18.07 and 1.19.46 timings.

“I am happy for the win, I was really prepared and now I am looking forward to win again next year.” Meringor told Citizen Digital.

In 10km, James Mwadime finished first by clocking 32:38:52 followed by Gift Bahati who registered 32:41:26 while Mwamburi Jackson was third with t 32:49: 67 time.

Lucy Mwende was the winner in 10KM women’s category clocking 50:46:83 as Ann Ali who registered 50:49:96 and Monica Mwende 51:20:59 finished second and third consecutively.

Winners in 21km race went home with Ksh. 500,000 while first and second runners-UP walked away with 250,009 and 100,000 consecutively.

The marathon comprised of seven categories, 21km both men and women 10Km for juniors, 8Km for men over 45years, 8km for women over 35years, 6Km for boys under 12years, 4Km for girls under 12years and Corporate races.

Taita Taveta County Governor Granting Samboja attended the race together with AK chairman Lut rtd Jakcson Tuwei and 3,000m world record holder Daniel Komen .
