Mukidza stars in KCB win over Top Fry Nakuru

Kenya Sevens and Simbas international Darwin Mukidza landed 25 points as KCB registered their first Kenya Cup win in Nakuru since 2009, posting a 28-10 win over hosts Top Fry Nakuru.

Mike Wanjala’s drop goal saw KCB take 3-0 lead, Darwin Mukidza adding a penalty for a 6-0 lead after 16mins.

Oliver Mang’eni would be sin binned, Nakuru’s Geoff Omondi slotting home the ensuing penalty for a 6-3 score on 19mins.

The bankers continued to dominate even with one man less, Ken Moseti’s initial line break creating a platform for Mukidza to score and convert for a 13-3 lead after 29mins.

Matters would remain this way heading into the interval.

Jimmy Kilonzo, difficult to deal with all afternoon, would find himself in possession, racing clear and commuiting his defender, offloading to Mukidza who scored and converted for a 20-3 lead five minutes into the second half.

Mukidza would land a penalty as KCB went 23-3 up on 47 mins.

An audacious Martin Owilah offload was perfectly received by Mukidza who raced clear to land his hat trick, KCB 28-3 after 57mins.

A rare Nakuru attack saw Ominde convert Les Ochieng’s try, the scores 28-10 with 17 mins to play, a lead the bankers held up to full time.
