Muluya confident of good return in Ghana despite injury scare

Kariobangi Sharks head coach William Muluya is upbeat his side will win the Caf-Confederations Cup first round return leg against Ghana giants Asante Kotoko in-spite of the injury nightmare that has dogged his  attack line.

The two sides go head-to head at the weekend in Ghana’s capital Accra for a slot in the group stages, with the tie delicately poised having drawn 0-0 in the first leg tie in Nairobi last weekend.

Buoyant as he is, Muluya will face a nervous wait to know the fate of last season’s Kenya Premier League top scorer Eric Kapaito and striker Sidney Lokale who are both nursing minor injuries.

 “I understand the magnitude of playing an away match but I am sure we going to win in Ghana,”he said.

On Tuesday, Sharks picked a morale boosting  2-0 win over Sony Sugar in a Kenya Premier League (KPL) that will inspire them ahead of the Kotoko test.

Muluya is also confident that the two strikers will be fit by Thursday to board the plane.

“The two have been training but the medics are yet to give me the green light to field them. Maybe the angels will visit them and they’ll make it to Ghana,” joked Muluya after he saw his side win their first KPL match of the season.

“Kapaito is far from getting back but Sidney Lokale could travel with the team to Ghana. I hope he does,” Muluya added.

Muluya charges will be relying on the Uganda born George Abege to bang the goals.

The team is expected to leave for Ghana on Thursday.
