Muyoti coy on Homeboyz future

Kakamega Homeboyz head coach Nicholas Muyoti is non-committal on his long term stay at the club.

The former AFC Leopards player has been lured to join FKF Premier League outfit Wazito FC to succeed Fred Ambani who was shown the door by the club hierarchy.

In an interview with Citizen Digital,  Muyoti confirmed having been contacted by Wazito chief Ricardo Badoer but  requested  the Swedish businessman to allow him first bury his father on Saturday before assessing the possibilities.

However, it is not clear whether the former AFC Leopards player will be convinced to jump into one of the hottest seats which has seen coaches hired and fired by the ruthless Badoer.

“Wazito have already talked to me and I asked them to allow me bury my dad first. Badoer called me last week to pass his condolences and then he offered me the job.

However, I still have a contract with Homeboyz and so I need to first of all speak to my boss(Cleophas Shimanyula) before I can take any other step,” Muyoti said.

Muyoti who joined Homeboyz from Nzoia Sugar in 2018 will be laying his father to rest this Saturday.

Muyoti has been at the helm of the club for two years, guiding them to a second place finish, seven points behind champions Gor Mahia who were crowned as winners after 23 rounds thanks to the coronavirus pandemic.

In a separate interview, Cleophas ‘Toto’ Shimanyula said that he is not worried at all to hear that Wazito are after his man.

He has however said that he is not going to prevent Muyoti from joining them if at all he is interested in doing so.

“I have not yet been told that Muyoti is leaving. Nothing of the sort has reached my desk. However, if Wazito are planning to appoint him then I have absolutely no problem with that,”Shimanyula underscored.
