Mwalala hails wonderful season as plans shift to Shield final

Despite failing to clinch the Kenyan Premier League title, Bandari coach Bernard Mwalala has termed their season as “a wonderful one” after stretching their points tally to 63,  one more than what they attained last term.

Speaking after a barren draw against Sofapaka, Mwalala congratulated his boys and their sponsors for the good run in his second season which has seen them bag a runners-up position in the league for the second year running.

On 63 points, the Dockers will finish above third-placed Sofapaka but could reach the 66-point mark should they win their final match of the season on Wednesday against Nzoia Sugar at Sudi Stadium.

According to Mwalala, the good run is a motivation ahead of a Shield Cup final against defending champions Kariobangi Sharks on June 1.

“We went above our last season points mark and that is an improvement. We have had consistency in the squad.”

And as measures geared at refreshing the squad fresh ahead of the Shield Cup final, Mwalala intends to rest several first team players for Wednesday’s season ender against Nzoia Sugar.

“I will give opportunity to my players who have not had enough game time as we get ready to tackle Sharks in the final.”

Ahead of the final round of matches, Bnadri are on 63 points, eight shy of newly cronwed champions Gor Mahia
