Mwalala rules out January transfer activity for Bandari

Bernard Mwalala has ruled out making any new signings in the January transfer window for his struggling Bandari FC.

Bandari have snapped up cash-strapped Sony’s John Mwita on a free transfer and that could be the only reinforcement the Coastal based side could make in this transfer period.

The Dockers have been short of options in attack this season with Yema Mwana and Wycliffe Ochomo failing to bang goals with the frequency needed of attackers.

Mwalala has in the past decried the bluntness of his attackers but his latest sentiments are a setback to the fans even as he noted that the transfer market is ‘very expensive’ forcing him to work with the players available.

“ Mwita has closed our transfer window. Players are very expensive right now, they have contracts with their clubs and it’s not easy to be released. We don’t need players to develop, we need someone who can come straight to the team and give us something different. We are going to work with what we already have,” Mwalala told reporters at Mbaraki Sports Club.

Bandari are 14 points behind Kenya Premier League leaders Gor Mahia and remain 11th on the log on 18 points but the gaffer believes there’s still more room to improve and climb to the top.

Having guided them to a second finish in two successive seasons, Mwalala will be keen to bring back the glory days and insists his side should be on the right track if they can register four wins in their next five matches,  starting with Kariobangi Sharks on Wednesday.

“ I said it before that if we can get good results in our five assignments then we’re good to go. It would have even been better had we won the three points{against Nzoia Sugar} on the pitch but after all we’re fully focused on Sharks match,” he added.

Bandari will travel to Nairobi to face the William Muluyha coached side hoping to continue with their impressive form against them having won their last three league outings without conceding.
