Mwamba coach blames poor weather, fatigue for defeat
Mwamba RFC head coach Kevin “Bling” Wambua has blamed poor weather conditions in Kakamega and travel fatigue as the main reason to their loss to Kabras Sugar.
Mwamba failed to maintain their 15-5 lead to lose 30-22 to the Kakamega based side on day one of the 2017-2018 Kenya Cup season.
In an interview with Citizen Digital, Wambua blamed bad weather; citing heavy rainfall at the Kakamega Showground, which he argued disrupted their play pattern.
“We had the game on our hands but we could not maintain the lead. Kabras are a good side and I believe my boys did all they could to record positive results but luck was not on our side.”
“Partly, I would blame the poor weather conditions and fatigue since we travelled a day to kick off and somehow this affected our mental preparedness,”Wambua lamented.
Wambua had included the likes of former Kenya Sevens star Lavin Asego and Humphrey Khayange to his side but the plan never fell into place.
Mwamba will be facing Impala in their next game at the Railways Sports Club and Wambua is optimistic that his boys will come out with a win.
“It’s a challenging season but we look forward to it. Impala are a good side and our meetings are always worth looking forward to.”
Mwamba are currently placed sixth after the bonus loss and a win against Impala will boost their title hopes campaign.
