Mwamba’s Kisia eyes sweet revenge against KCB

Mwamba RFC coach Louis Kisia is optimistic that his charges will pull revenge against KCB when the twos sides lock horns in a Kenya Cup round of 14 match set for this weekend at the RFUEA ground, Nairobi.

Mwamba lost 33-13 to KCB in a round three match in December, and Kisia wants to get one over the enemy.

The ‘Kulubus’ rose to fifth in the 12-team log after demolishing Enterprise Cup defending champions Menengai Cream Homeboyz 46-19 at the weekend and Kisia believes that they will overturn the first leg results when they battle the bankers.

“For the weekend game definitely we’re upbeat about it and we’re also eager to play against KCB. We faced them in the league in round three which they won and I think it will be a sweet revenge if we win at the weekend,”enthused Kisia.

As the season kicked off late last year, Mwamba’s target was to make it to the playoffs and Kisia asserts they’ve already attained the target.

“We have an uphill task against KCB; it will be a banker’s derby and at number five we’ve already attained our season goal which was to make it to the play offs.”

Kisia who also plays as Mwamba’s flanker says containing KCB’s strong forwards will be key in getting the victory.

“We will make sure we capitalize on KCB’s mistakes and contain their  big mobile forwards and use our superb backs to score the tries,” he explained.

Kisia will also be counting on Collins Inera’s vast experience.

“Injera is an experienced player and he brings a lot to the team. Scoring a hat trick at the weekend against Homeboyz has boosted his tally this season,”he said of the marauding winger who is chasing for the top tries accolade with Phillip Wokorach from Kabras.

Mwamba won their last and only Kenya Cup trophy in 1983.
