Mwatate prowl the market for experienced coach

National Super League newbies Mwatate United are strengthening their technical bench with a view of adding a new experienced coach ahead of the new challenge in the second-tier league.

According to their chairman James Mbaraka, the team is in need of a ”well-versed” coach who will lead the Taita Taveta based club in the NSL .

Tactician Benedict Simiyu led Mwatate to the second tier league after finishing top of Division One League in a season halted by the coronavirus pandemic, and it remains unclear how the two will work or who will assume head coach duties.

“We are yet to decide if we will let our current coach leave or they will work together with our new recruit whom we will launch soon,” said Mbaraka.

Wanahewa, as the club are fondly known, are scheduled to start their new campaign against another newly promoted team Silibwet FC.

On players’ recruitment, Mbaraka has assured that they will add more players in order to fight for a top-flight slot.

“We are finalizing on our new players and we will let our fans know as soon as we complete the process”.

Mwatate adds to three number of teams from the Coast region with Mombasa based Coast Stima and Modern Coast Rangers already in the NSL.

Mwatate will use the refurbished Danson Mwanyumba Stadium in Wundanyi  Sub-county as their homegrown.
