Nakumatt FC defeated Ushuru FC 1-0 to take first leg advantage of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) promotion play-off played at the Camp Toyoyo Stadium on Friday.

Tom Adwar gave Nakumatt the winner in the 19th minute from a long range free-kick as the KPL side downed the top-flight hopefuls ahead of Sunday’s return in Kasarani.

Nakumatt will thus head into the second leg on the front foot with the winner on aggregate set to join National Super League (NSL) champions Western Stima and second-placed KCB in completing the 2019 KPL line-up.

Ushuru, who were relegated from the KPL in 2016, are featuring in the play-offs for the second year running having lost to Thika United last year.
