Nakumatt keen to shop three points from Shabana

Shabana FC’s joy at breaking their win-less streak in the National Super League (NSL) midweek could be short-lived if the form book is not thrown out of the window as leaders Nakumatt FC train guns at beating the bottom side on Saturday.

The gulf between the two teams could not be more pronounced, with the Gusii-based former top flight giants trailing Fred Ambani’s retailers by a massive 33 points with the in-form Nakumatt coming to the game having dispatched close challengers in the promotion race, Zoo Kericho and Agro Chemicals in successive outings.

Shabana lifted themselves to within four points from safety after doubling their season’s tally to six after switching off Nairobi Stima 2-1 on Wednesday for a first victory of their belated campaign with the added advantage of three games in hand over 18th placed FC Talanta.

Defeat to the leaders would therefore, not be a disaster for the team who are aiming to secure their status in the NSL before mounting a serious charge for promotion next season following their chaotic start to the league they were reinstated to by a Sports Dispute Tribunal.

Second placed Nzoia United who are unbeaten will also be expected to make short work of Talanta while third placed Mike Madoya’s Zoo face a wounded Nairobi Stima in 11th who are keen to earn a quick return to form after the ignominy of being the first team to fall to Shabana.

Former leaders Vihiga United, who added ex-AFC Leopards’s player Francis Xavier to their technical bench as a deputy to head coach Edward Manoah host Oserian in Mumias where their Ugandan mid season signings; Arthur Simanzi and Allan Kiza, who joined the side from Uganda’s Lweza and Sadoline FC are lined for debuts.

The duo missed the start of the second leg due to technicalities in acquiring registration with Football Kenya Federations as Vihiga who are sixth seek to mount a charge for the promotion places.

KCB who are a place before them host Police FC who are coming off back-to-back draws with Kariobangi Sharks are aiming at recovering from dropping four out of six points when Mike Amenga’s charges take on Bidco United who have put together a good run in the second half of the campaign.
