Over 4,000 youths aged between 18-25 and drawn from the 47 counties are expected to participate and challenge for the honours in football, volleyball and basketball.
According to the County Executive Member (CEC) in charge of Sports, Youths and Arts in the county Elly Kurgat, Nandi was given the rights to host the week-long competition owing to its dedication to sports.
“We will be hosting KYISA Games this month from 15-23 having been given the opportunity to host these games due to the high priority we give to sports in our county,” said Kurgat.
Kurgat urged the residents to embrace the games as they are set to reap huge benefits by virtue of hosting a national competition at their backyard
“This is a good opportunity for us to showcase our hospitality to the many guests who will be receiving. We are expecting to host more than 5 ,000 people for the entire tournament which will aptly boost our economy as well,” Kurgat told Citizen Digital.
Mosoriot Teachers Training College, Kapsabet High School, Kapsabet Showground as well as Nandi Hills Stadium will host the games.
The fourth edition of the tournament was held in Makueni County where Kwale County teams (male and female) reigned supreme in football while in volleyball, Kirinyaga and Makueni counties are the reigning champions in men and women respectively.
