New Juventus signing Ronaldo targets Champions League glory

Juventus’s record signing Cristiano Ronaldo has said that his move from Real Madrid was a “well thought-out decision” and remains keen to help his new club win their first Champions League title in over two decades.

Ronaldo, who joined the Turin-based club from Real Madrid on a four-year contract for 100 million euros ($117.07 million), said he did not want to stay in his comfort zone after winning three consecutive Champions League titles with the Spanish club.

“I feel great, for me it is another challenge. I love challenge, it will be tough, I know that, very difficult, the league is tough, but I will be ready. Juve is ready, I will be ready. I will be there, as I said before the age is not important. I feel good. I feel motivated, exciting, so I will try to do my best like always. I am looking forward to start the League well and try to win every titles.”

“I do know that the Champions League title is a trophy that every club would like to win and as I said before and as we said with the President, this is an option. We are going to fight not only for the Champions League but also for the Serie A title and all the others. I know that competition will be harsh but we must be very calm, be concentrated because the Champions League title is not so easily won and I hope I can give my help as Juventus were a step away from it. They couldn’t win (last year) because even when you get to the final nothing is written. I hope I can be the lucky star of this club but we will see what happens.”

The 33-year-old Portugal forward left Los Blancos as their all-time top scorer with 451 goals in all competitions and won two La Liga titles and four Champions League trophies over nine years.

The signing of the five-times world player of the year and top scorer in the Champions League for the last six seasons represents a major coup for Juve, who have lifted the league title for the last seven seasons but have not won Europe’s top prize since 1996.
