New Leopards boss Stewart Hall to be unveiled Friday

Newly appointed AFC Leopards Head Coach Stewart Hall is expected to arrive in the country on Thursday afternoon ahead of his official unveiling by the club on Friday.

Leopards Secretary General, Oscar Igaida, has confirmed that his deputy Elijah Omungala and treasurer Oliver Napali will be at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to welcome the former Sofapaka FC and Azam SC coach.

The former director of Birmingham City F.C. Academy beat over 40 coaches who applied to take over from the sacked Ivan Minnaert and is expected to head his first training session on Monday.

“He will be jetting into the country a very tired man considering the long flight durations so we’ll let him take a break and recover from it,” Igaida told Citizen Digital.

The Englishman is taking over an Ingwe team bereft of confidence following a shocking season that has seen them remain stuck just above the relegation zone and has been given the leeway to appoint a technical bench that he can best work with as Leopards target to finish a forgettable season on a high.

Hall will travel to along with his new team when they visit relegation-threatened Batoto ba Mungu – a side he managed in 2012 albeit for barely two months – for Friday’s Kenyan Premier League (KPL) clash at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

Igaida added he expects Hall to hit the ground running, having already managed in the local league saying that the opportunity to watch the squad in action on Friday will also give him an idea of which areas need urgent shake-ups.

“It’s not a new environment to him so I’m certain he’ll perform. Ezekiel Akwana will be in charge tomorrow before handing over the squad,” Igaida added.
