New signings driving Bidcos dream for a KPL berth

Second-placed National Super League side  Bidco United are hinging their promotion hopes on the new signings as the 2019/20 enters home stretch.

Head coach Anthony Akhulia says the four signings they made have helped the team stage a bright start to the second leg of the season.

“We recruited two goalkeepers and two outfield players and all of them have played so far,” he told Citizen Digital.“We aimed to get quality players who would go straight into the starting lineup as we push for promotion.

“I’m happy that they have helped us maintain our perfect start and we hope to maintain it for as long as we can,” he added.

The Delmonte grounds based outfit trails runaway league leaders Nairobi City Stars by seven points and need to finish second to seal qualification to the Kenya Premier League.

Akhulia maintains they will aim to do well in their fixtures to have their destiny in their hands.

“We cannot say we are aiming to finish second. What we can only do is work hard and try to win our matches and then we will see what will happen.

In football, nothing is for certain. Consequently, we are looking to achieve consistency in the say we play to be guaranteed of a good season end.”

After missing out on promotion last term by 15 points, a consistent run of form has seen the team stage a three-game winning streak into the second leg this season a feat that will only push them closer to their promotion ambitions.

“It is not a bad start because we have won all our three opening matches. All I am doing at the moment is motivating my boys to work hard and maintain that run. Every team in the NSL is hard to beat.”

Hot on their heels is third-placed Nairobi Stima on 41 points. They  face leaders City Stars in what is likely to be their toughest game of the season.
