New spin on rape allegation as rugby star, artiste record statements at the DCI

A fast-rising female artiste who accused two rugby players of gang-raping her on February 10, 2018, has recorded her statement at the Department of Criminal Investigations office – DCIO in Kilimani, Nairobi.

Citizen Digital has gathered that the musician who made the startling revelations on Saturday on her personal Instagram page gave her statement at the DCIO office yesterday.

The musician’s post accusing the two players went viral online prompting the Office for public prosecutions to request the DCIO Kilimani to investigate the incident.

At the same time, one of the adversely mentioned players has today reported a case of extortion at the DCIO in Kilimani and recorded a statement on the incident, throwing a new spin onto the matter.

In an exclusive interview with Citizen Digital, the player’s lawyer,[name withheld] confirmed that his client had reported a case of extortion.

He said: “The DCIO called us Wednesday morning, they are doing their investigations and we have recorded our statements.”

The artist had alleged on her Instagram page that the duo raped her at a social event on February 10.

The other accused player is expected to record a statement in the course of the week regarding the matter.
