The Kenya Football Federation (FKF) will get a new technical director next week. FKF boss Nick Mwendwa said the new director will be announced in a week’s time.

The Federation boss said he had held talks with a European Federation to second a Technical Director who will replace Patrick Naggi.

“Later next week, hopefully, we will introduce to you the new technical director, this has been a long wait,” said Mwendwa.

Mwendwa, who was speaking at the GOTV Shield Tournament launch, said the new technical director will help steer the country forward.

He also announced that FKF will be making grassroot tours as community teams will now be participating in the GOTV Shield tourney.

He called on unlicensed clubs to ensure they get registered by October in line with resolutions of a top-level meeting that outlined the standards for playing at the continental level.

“By October this year, every club will have to meet certain standards for it to play at continental levels. Next, we shall have a cup and a shield and those participating in the cup must have met the set guidelines.”

The 2016’s edition of GOTV Shield Tournament will kick off immediately after a draw was successfully concluded Thursday.

GOTV shield gives the ‘smaller’ teams a chance to test the skills and the weight against the ‘big’ teams.

The tournament will start on 25th and 26th of this month.
