No Super Cup hangover as Gor rout Wazito

Gor Mahia FC and Meddie Kagere carried their all-conquering Super Cup momentum into the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) as they outclassed Wazito FC 4-0 at Kisumu’s Moi Stadium on Wednesday.

Kagere, who won the Super Cup golden boot, was in a similar ruthless mood as he hit a first half double to set Gor on road to the rout with Francis Kahata and Boniface Omondi also on the scoresheet.

Victory for Gor took them to 37 points, five clear of second-placed Mathare United FC and the champions have four games in hand to make clearer the daylight between themselves and their assailants.

In Machakos, Brian Marita scored a stunner as AFC Leopards edged Sofapaka FC 1-0 to claim only their first win in two years against the Batoto ba Mungu.

At the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru, Ulinzi Stars captain James Saruni was sent off in stoppage time as the side battled to a 1-1 draw with Kakamega Homeboyz with Masita Masuta notching up his sixth goal of the season to salvage a point for the Military Men after Hassan Kikoyo had given the visitors the lead.

Elsewhere at the Camp Toyoyo Grounds, KPL topscrorer Elvis Rupia was on target again but his goal was insufficient as Kariobangi Sharks rallied to clinch a 2-1 comeback win over Nzoia United.
