Nondies overrun Mombasa RFC at familiar Jamhuri ground

Nondescripts RFC claimed a deserved win over newly promoted Mombasa RFC in an early kick off at the Jamhuri Showground on Saturday.

Nondies dismantled Mombasa 64-5 to record the highest score of the Kenya Cup this season; running in eleven tries against Mombasa’s single try which went unconverted.

Mombasa travelled to the capital hopeful that they can record their first win after tough opening fixtures, but the home side had other ideas after three of their new signings Moses Begi and Frank Ongayo impressed after a shaky start.

Filden Sinei was at his best after taking up the kicking duties, slotting in all conversions and four penalties, all courtesy of his mercurial new rugby boots.

Andrew Asena bagged Mombasa’s sole try after the break before Nondies tightened their noose and ran in six unanswered tries for a 64-5 resounding win.

Mombasa travel back home without any point in a tough debut season while Nondies earn five points and a bonus in their bag.

The Jamhuri Showground played host to a double header with Homeboyz playing host to Impala who will be looking forward to cementing their stay at the top of the Kenya Cup log.

Mombasa will welcome big boys Kabras Sugar at the Mombasa Sports Club wor their last game of the year, while Nondies entertain Impala at the Jamhuri Showground.
