NSL: Gusii can avoid relegation, assures coach Ongoro
National Super
League relegation-threaten side Gusii FC tactician Joseph Ongoro has implored
their fan base to stick with them as they attempt to turn around their dismal
season.
Gusii dished a
2-0 walkover against SS Assad after they gave their fixture slated for Ukunda showground in
Kwale County a wide berth.
Ongoro says despite
the financial turmoil that has crippled their operations, his charges are ready
to engineer a move away from the drop zone by bagging maximum points from their
remaining eight matches.
“We understand we have had a poor season but there are more reasons that
explain our struggles than just the financial problems that we have had to
contend.
“Being a community club we are faced with many problems but we are ready
to put everything behind and do well on the pitch.”
Ongoro has
rallied their faithful to stand with them despite the struggles, promising a
solid finish for the season.
During times like these we need our fan base more than ever because they
are the ones to push us to do better.
We can promise that we will do everything within our means to survive
relegation.
Gusii sits 18th on
the NSL log on 22 points and will be out to spark their fight to avoid the chop
when they host 19th-placed Mulembe United at Cardinal Otunga Grounds
in Mosocho, Kisii County, on Saturday
