NSL leaders Vihiga out to bounce back at Modern Coast

National Super League (NSL) leaders Vihiga United travel to Modern Coast Rangers on Wednesday looking to atone for their shock defeat at the hands of Nairobi Stima last week.

Stima ended Vihiga’s 18-match unbeaten run at the Karuturi Stadium in Naivasha and have a chance to quickly put behind them what was only their second defeat of the season against Rangers who are placed 12th on the NSL log.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Vihiga Secretary General Wycliffe Luvavu said the team is in high spirits having arrived safely in Mombasa ahead of their clash at the Mbaraki Stadium in Mombasa.

“They are going to do some training at Tononoka Grounds before facing our opponents tomorrow.  Amos Kigadi is the only injured player in our squad so I believe the worst possible result we can get is a draw,” Luvavu asserted.

His Rangers counterpart Ferdinand Ogot assured his charges are ready for the clash and will be hoping to be more clinical in front of goal having held to a 0-0 draw by Palos FC in their previous match despite creating numerous chances.

“We have done our training and everyone is fit for selection. We know Vihiga United is a good team so we are going to handle them with great care,” Ogot said.
