NSL review: Akhulia keen to build on victory over Migori

Bidco United marked their second win of the season in the National Super League (NSL) when they thrashed Migori Youth 4-1 on Saturday at the Thika Stadium, culminating round six matches.

The win pushed the manufacturers to a ninth place on the 20-team log with eight points in the second division tier, leaving head coach Anthony Akhulia a chuffed man for what he termed a beautiful display.

“My boys displayed a very beautiful game especially in the second half, I want them to continue with that spirit in our coming matches,” an exited Akhulia hailed his players after an outstanding performance,” said Akhulia.

On the other hand, the struggling Migori Youth are yet to taste a win this season after registering three draws and an equal number of losses as they are placed 15th on the standings with three points.

Head coach Salim Babu has however attributed their poor run of form to financial constraints they are currently undergoing as well as fatigue on his players.

“We have a challenge, we’re very young and we are struggling to get finances to support the team. We also traveled all the way from Migori to Thika and that must have caused fatigue to the young players,” Babu averred.

Meanwhile, the newly promoted Shabana FC’s five match unbeaten run came to an end on Saturday when they succumbed to a 1-0 loss to Wazito FC at a parked Gusii Stadium.

A solitary goal from Zachary Gathu propelled Wazito to the second spot while Shabana dropped to fourth place with 13 points, two points behind Wazito and three points behind league leaders Ushuru FC.

Elsewhere, Ushuru edged hosts Thika United 2-0 as Coast Stima shared spoils with Nairobi City Stars when they played to a 2-2 draw at the Mbaraki Sports Club.
