Nyambua warns Simbas of incoming Hong Kong charge

Kabras Sugar RFC lock George Nyambua who will captain Simbas against Hong Kong has warned his teammates to brace themselves to withstand a harder force presented from their opposition when the two sides clash on Sunday.

Speaking during the unveiling of the Simbas squad for the two round match tests, Nyambua said they have the mental edge over their opponents having beaten them last year but will be taking nothing for granted.

“This time round they will come harder but again we just need to outlast them and play beyond their level.

“We are looking forward for a tough game, but we are well prepared both physically and mentally,” Nyambua said.

The Jerome Paarwaters-coached side are ranked 25th against Hong Kong’s 24th and Nyambua says they should exploit the set of matches to scale up the world ranking.

The skipper added the squad is looking forward for World Cup Qualifiers next year.

“It’s a motivating game ahead of us especially with the four nations we are going to face come November. It will help us prepare for the Qualifiers because we need to fight and get into the World Cup,” he offered.

Kenya made 17 changes to the squad that played Namibia in the final game of Africa Rugby Gold cup but Nyambua is adamant the reshuffle will not affect the team since they have all been training together.

“We have been training together all through the year some and while have failed to make the squad I don’t see this affecting the team’s performance.

“We will work together we have the game plan each and everything we have to do we know, so it’s upon us to take the pitch and we believe we will win,” he added.

Nyambua said the squad takes full responsibility for their Gold Cup loss to Namibia but have since gone back to the drawing board to rectify their mistakes.
