Nyasa Bullets coach labels clash with Gor a David versus Goliath duel

Nyasa Big Bullets head coach Callisto Pasuwa has conceded his side heads to tonight’s the CAF Champions League preliminary match against Kenyan Premier League (KPL) Champions Gor Mahia as underdogs.

The two sides will trade swords at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani from 7pm in the first leg of the preliminary championships with a place in the first round at stake.

The Malawian champions are making a comeback to the competition after three years of absence.

Speaking after taking his charges through a light training at the Kasarani stadium on Tuesday ,  Pasuwa termed the match a ‘Goliath versus David’ affair considering Gor’s form and experience in the competition but nevertheless assured that they will give a good account of themselves.

“We understand the enormous task that awaits us against Gor Mahia. They are a very experienced side but again we need to be positive on everything. Obviously when we come here we can’t say we came to lose, we are coming for a result and all we need is to approach the game well,” said Pasuwa.

The former Zimbabwe Warriors coach said he has been following Gor Mahia since his days as a player especially at the continental stage hence well versed with the calibre of the competitor they will be facing.

“I have gotten experience of Gor Mahia since when I was a player. Also I have been watching them at the group stages and that’s the reason why I am saying this is an experienced side,” Pasuwa added.

On his part, captain Chiukepo Msowoya said they do not fear Gor despite their recent successes noting they are equally champions in their league.

“This is football and we don’t count on history because we came here to play football. We respect them but we don’t fear them. We are equally champions in our own backyard,” Msowoya charged.

The epic clash is set to kick off at 7pm with the return leg scheduled for next Wednesday in Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre, Malawi.

The aggregate winner in this tie will face either Lobi Stars of Nigeria or USM De Loum of Cameroon in the first round of the premier continental clubs competition.
