Sports Principal Secretary Ambassador Kirimi Kaberia is confident that the renovations work at the Nyayo National Stadium will be completed by March next year.

Workers are racing against time to get the facility ready for the Jamhuri Day celebrations penciled for December 12, with the PS noting that half of the works will be complete by November 12.

Speaking during an inspection visit at the facility, Kiberia said that the government had given priority to the renovation works at the Kinoru Stadium in Meru and at the Moi Internationals sports Centre, Kasarani.

The work had  stalled for over nine month as the contractors put down their tools owing to lack of payment, a situation the PS maintains has been resolved.

“For now the seats have not been installed but they have promised to fix them by November 12. By March 2019, all the seats will have been fixed, and the stadium will be complete,”Kiberai said.

The contractors are also expected to undertake ground work next week which will include laying of  the grass.
