Nzoia bite Sharks as Vihiga, Zoo march on

Nzoia United FC continued their fine start to the National Super League (NSL) season, brushing aside Kariobangi Sharks 3-1 to tighten their grip at the top of the league table with 13 points, two above Zoo Kericho FC and Vihiga United who both recorded fifth round wins.

Edward Manoah’s Vihiga needed a late goal to see off Ligi Ndogo who are yet to win a single SPL match this season while Zoo reaffirmed their quest to earn promotion to the SportPesa Premier League with a 2-0 win over FC Talanta as both who are separated by goal difference kept pace with the leaders on 11.

Coach Ahmed Mohammed’s Modern Coast Rangers side ended their four-match losing streak without kicking a ball after West Kenya Sugar gifted yet another walk-over, a fourth for the campaign.

Nairobi Stima were humbled 2-0 at home by a spirited Nakuru All Stars who jumped up six places to sixth in the table with the former falling four places to tenth on seven points.

Police which drew against FC Talanta in last weekend’s round were arrested 3-0 by visiting Agro Chemicals.

Moyas FC settled for their second draw on the spin, sharing the spoils with bankers KCB in a 1-1 stalemate where both goals came in the first half.

Wazito FC were unable to utilize their home advantage against Nakumatt FC after going down 2-0 to leave the Nairobi-based side only three points above the relegation zone.

Bidco United and St. Joseph settled for 1-1 draw in a match played at the Thika Municipal Stadium.

Nakuru All Stars and Wazito FC will kick off the next round on Saturday with the rest of the fixtures penned in for Sunday.
