Nzoia FC wary of a slip as they host Modern Coast Rangers

The National Super League (NSL) enters the sixth round this weekend with ten matches lined up as table-toppers Nzoia United welcome Modern Coast Rangers at Kandunyi Stadium in Bungoma County on Sunday.

Nzoia hopes Zoo Kericho FC and Vihiga United, both of whom are level on second with 11 points apiece, can slip over the weekend as they seek to widen the lead to five points with a win.

Vihiga United, placed second, will travel to play Nairobi Stima while Zoo FC have launched a strong start to their campaign and welcome Police FC at the Kericho Green Stadium where their string of impressive displays have continually attracted mammoth crowds.

Nzoia Team Manager Evans Kadenge has warned his forwards that they cannot afford to rest on their laurels against Rangers saying that the coastal-based side is not as weak as their form suggests.

“My team was wasteful in front of goal in the last game but we have already rectified our mistakes for the next match. Rangers are a strong team and should not be measured against their latest results. We’ll have to be more clinical in front of goal if we expect a positive result,” he told Citizen Digital.

“The team avoided injuries against Sharks so that’s a plus for us,” he added.

Rangers’ Coach Mohammed ‘Moha’ Mchule has lamented the long drive from Mombasa to Bungoma saying the fatigue might affect their overall performance but is hopeful they can surprise the hosts.

“Our last outing at Bungoma did not turn out that bad, to travel all the way and still manage a draw was nice. Maybe this time we can win,” he stated.

Sixth-placed Nakuru All Stars welcome Wazito FC at Afraha stadium, Nakuru on Saturday afternoon seeking to return to winning ways after a disappointing 2-0 away loss to Nakumatt FC in the midweek match.

After their 3-1 thrashing by Nzoia, Sharks are desperate for a positive response when they entertain fifth-placed Nakumatt FC at home.

In other matches, FC Talanta host Bidco United, Oserian play against KCB, St. Joseph play FC Moyas, while Palos face against West Kenya sugar.
