Nzoia rue missed chances after loss to City Stars

Nzoia Sugar FC captain Peter Gin says his side paid the price of failing to take their chances as they fell 2-0 to Nairobi City Stars in their season-opening Football Kenya Federation Premier League fixture on Sunday.

Anthony ‘Muki’ Kimani and Oliver Maloba struck inside a two-minute blitz for the FKF PL newbies to settle the contest at the at Narok Stadium.

Muki, playing his first top flight game since 2016, opened the scoring in the 16th minute when he opened up to receive Davis Agesa’s cross before firing past Nzoia goalkeeper Mustapha Oduor.

They doubled their advantage almost immediately with Agesa again at the heart of it after he intercepted a backpass from Nzoia’s Leonard Kasembeli to feed Maloba who put it away.

“This is football and sometimes the unexpected does happen. We were well prepared and I think we dominated the proceedings from the first to the final whistle. We created chances but failed to convert them. They utilised theirs and made us pay,” Gin said.

The midfielder is upbeat they can pocket all three points when they host Kariobangi Sharks who launched their campaign with a 4-0 demolition of Wazito FC.
