Nzoia shopping for new coach after Muyoti exit

Nzoia Sugar are bracing for life without Nicolas Muyoti after he ditched them on Monday to join rivals Kakamega Homeboyz as head coach in a two-year deal.

Nzoia Team Manager Evans Kadenge has termed the exit of Muyoti as a ‘huge blow’ but said the club is already sourcing for a replacement.

“We that heard that he has left the other day without even a letter of resignation. He has put us in an awkward position. He (Muyoti) just told players on Monday that he will not be with them after landing another offer with Homeboyz,” Kadenge said.

Nzoia, who are currently ranked 10th on the Kenyan Premier League standings, face a daunting away clash against league leaders Bandari FC over the weekend with assistant coach Vincent Sifuma taking charge on interim capacity.

Kadenge said the club’s chairman Ian Yapets has convened a committee to appoint Muyoti’s replacement but they have yet to settle on a candidate.

“The chairman met with the committee members to find a solution and maybe bring in another coach but discussions are ongoing.

“Muyoti has been given a lucrative contract by Shimanyula (Kakamega Homeboyz Chairman) and so he could not have stayed,” Kadenge added.

Nzoia travel to Mombasa on Thursday with Sifuma, aided by goalkeeper trainer Peter Mwaura, keen to end Nzoia’s three-match losing run.
