Nzoia’s new coach Murukurwa wants to gulp Tusker at whatever price

Nzoia Sugar FC’s new tactician Sylvester Murukurwa is confident his side will pocket all three when they take on Tusker FC in next week’s mid-week Kenyan Premier League  fixture.

Nzoia held their own to force on-form KCB to a 0-0 draw at the Sudi Stadium, and Murukurwa is bullish his boys can floor the 2017 champions, a fete that will see them jump out of the relegation zone.

“We are going for the three points  and nothing less; we have to move out of the relegation zone and fight from the top, we shall score goals, my boys are in good spirit,” he told Citizen Digital.

The Sudi based millers have tasted victory only twice, drawn seven times, and lost 13 matches this term.

Their last win was back in October last year against 10th placed Sofapaka, and Murukurwa says he intends to put a stop to this poor run starting with the visit of Tusker.

Nzoia have lost five of their last eight fixtures since the turn of the year and is desperate to return to winning ways.

Meanwhile, their opponents Tusker are on a good run this season having amassed 13 wins and lost two matches with the other seven games ending in stalemates.

Despite going unbeaten in their last eight Kenya Premier League matches, Tusker must still be wary.

The brewers have found it difficult to hold on until full time as they have conceded an average of one goal in every game from the 55th to the 80th minute in their last four matches.

The Ruaraka-based outfit has nicked the back of the net 43 times this term, which translates to two goals per game and have conceded a goal in every game.

The side rides on a 14 match win in overall season’s campaign, which translates to 60.87%.

Stat attack: Five of Nzoia`s last eight matches have produced less than 2.5 goals. They have, however, conceded a goal in six of the eight games. Notably, the side has only kept a clean sheet in two of their last eight matches.

Players to watch: Philip Muchuma, the former Sofapaka forward, has scored in most of Nzoia home fixtures and has contributed to most of the side’s goals. In contrast, his opposite number Enock Agwanda has been instrumental to the brewers.

The former Sony Sugar talisman has netted 12 times so far; a goal shy of top scorer John Makwata who signed for Zesco in Zambia, who is on 13.
