Ochieng floors Gitau in California Dessert Boxing

Sunday afternoon was a perfect cover for the California Dessert Boxing in Nairobi as boxers displayed their finest technique to outplay their opponents.

The super feather weight bout pitted local favorite Gabriel Ochieng and John Gitau and as the two boxers made their way into the ring it was certain that by the end of the 4 rounds there would be a winner either by points or unanimous decision.

It, however, took a few well-coordinated punches by Ochieng’ floored his opponent after just a minute and a half.

Gitau struggled to continue with the fight but it was clear the heavy punches had taken a heavy toll on him.

A second round Ochieng’ southpaw left Gitau down unable to move prompting the match referee Wycliffe Marende to rule the match in Ochieng’s favor.

In other bouts played at the same venue, Ken Oyolo proved too good for James Onyango in the Super Welter weight, with the second TKO of the day after three rounds.

In the ladies welter weight bout, Evelyne Adero defeated Susan Andeso.

Speaking to Citizen TV, the boxers expressed their concern for the outdoor fighting saying it was challenging especially because they had to fight through the extreme heat conditions due to direct sunlight.

The event’s organizer, MCA Hashim Kamau promised to provide an even more exciting event this coming Easter holidays.
