Ochomo on the double as Bandari skin Leopards

Veteran striker Wycliffe Ochomo turned on the style bagging a brace as Bandari FC bounced back to winning ways with a thumping 4-1 victory over AFC Leopards in a Kenyan Premier League match at the Mbaraki Sports Club , Mombasa on Sunday.

The win lifted the dockers to second on 21 points, three shy of leaders Mathare United.

Ochomo who was simply unplayable this afternoon gave the home side an early lead in the 26th minute after he was set through by Hassan Abdallah.

Vincent Oburu equalised for the visitors few minutes before Ochomo sent Jarius Adira the wrong way to tap in his first second.

After the breather Leopards were caught out again, a long pass from creative brain Abdalah Hassan fell into goalie Adira’s hands who failed to control the ball and Yema Mwana was at the right place to give Bandari the third, with a simple tap-in.

Super Cup player of the tournament William Wadri rounded off Leopards woes in the 69th minute to seal the three points for Bernard Mwalala side.

After the final whistle, irate Leopards fans expressed their displeasure holding their players and technical bench officials hostage prompting police to intervene.

Elsewhere, at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega, Kakamega Homeboyz and Vihiga United shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw while Kariobangi Sharks lost 2-0 to Soafapaka at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

At Bukhungu, Moses Mudavadi gave Kakamega Homeboyz the lead just five minutes into the game with a stunning screamer but a rejuvenated Vihiga made the scores even with a calculated header from Kyambadde Rashid in the 56th minute just outside the box.

Homeboyz were the favourites for better part of the first half with the trio of Allan Wanga, Moses Mudavadi and Thiong’o Peter staging a series of dangerous attacks.

Imbusia Alex missed a chance to make the scores even when his shot hit the goal post. A further attempt by Vihiga to score an equalizer went futile when Mukhanji Kevin’s shot canoed off the post.

A spirited Homeboyz would have widened the advantage to 2-0 just before halftime through a well placed Allan Wanga shot but Vihiga’s goalkeeper Geoffrey Oputi came to their rescue.

The second half was a see- saw affair with both teams battling to snatch a winner.

Thiong’o Peter wasted another chance to make it double for Kakamega Homeboyz in the 48th minute after failing to beat Vihiga’s goalkeeper in a one-on -one situation.
